Nuts to that. The world has enough mid-engine unicorns in it. I'd rather caddy be making us something well executed with 0% unobtainium alloy in it.

Front engined GT caddy is way more likely to make production though. I see your point, but I'm okay with it.

Bleh, that's not what they know how to do. If they ever produced it, I'm sure it would be awful. They are traditional American designers, stick a big engine in the front of a big car, and make it make a great noise. From there all they have to do is wrap everything in leather.

I'm not normally one to get too hung up on pedigree, but when it comes to Cadillac I prefer something that would appeal to Don Draper. There's just something about the cars they made from around '53-'73 that does it for me. I have no idea why, though.

I don't care about the Cadillac your grandpa use to take you for a drive in, when you were a kid, I don't care about the old movies that featured Cadillacs, that you liked. This is 2013, and if they will use terms like driving enjoyment, performance and so on, to describe that thing, they are as fake as the hair of the guy who will buy it, to attract chicks that have just as fake boobs, lips and maybe ass.

Why settle for less then a car which appeals to Shaq or Elvis based on aesthetic and appeals to Senna or Schumacher based on performance? I am sure that, given concepts like the Ciel or the Sixteen to name two, and the ferocious numbers cars like the CTS-V and ATS can put down, they could find a way.

The Classic V8 with 500hp, but it probably is so long and heavy that will eat its rear tires, faster than your burnouts will, and will feel like a yacht on corners.

I think he means to say that the car is so nose-heavy that without weight over the rear tires, it will just spin them and wear them down very fast even in normal driving. This, and Cadillac doesn't know how to build a suspension, so it won't handle at all.
Both are false. I'm willing to guess that V8 is very close to the firewall (look at the interior and tell me things aren't push as far back as possible) and the weight distribution is probably close to 55/45, which is fine.
As for suspension, yes, Cadillac suspension isn't the best. Except that this thing would almost certainly have Magnetic Ride Control. Which is, in my opinion, the best thing GM has made in about 30 years.

According to the video I've seen, performance really isn't the gambit at all. It's being marketed as a beautiful car that is also fast for daily driving.
I think it's incredibly honest and indicative of most modern (read: young) Cadillac drivers. They don't want performance, but they are still enthusiasts . They want a great highway car that looks beautiful (read: expensive) but doesn't sacrifice performance (read: highway pulls, not cornering) or economy (read: nice interior). Sure, it's not traditional enthusiasm, but it still is enthusiastic. They want the most of what their priorities offer.
Its no different than someone wanting a hard-core track car, but also wanting comfortable seats. Except this time its hard-core beauty and comfort, with adequate power and capabilities.
The perception of the typical Cadillac owners is changing.
That being said, I'd rather see the Cadillac Sixteen concept than this, but this is a little more realistic.

The 'Ring time says differently. ATS, CTS... by way of GM, yes, Cadillac suspension isn't the best, but it's no where near the bottom of the bracket either with only the comparative Bimmers and maybe Merc's really offering much of a fight in terms of suspension you'd actually want to live with (which isn't to discourage our Asian contributions).
